ACPA’s 55th Annual Meeting is off to a great start. A pre-meeting Chapter/State association reception kicked off the week Monday for those arriving early.

The Chapter Committee was the first order of business yesterday to discuss topics including dowel bars specifications and related issues; environmental issues; overlay promotion; joint deterioration; and pavement resiliency/disaster recovery, and other topics. Gordon Smith of the CP Tech Center also presented an overview of year-to-date activities and also formally announced the award of a $9M FHWA cooperative agreement.  Meeting participants also had the opportunity to participate in optional recreational activities, including golf and an airboat tour and alligator show.

Today’s business line-up includes ACPA task force and committee meetings, followed by a plenary session to discuss the proposed industry promotion and resourcing plan.  An informal “beach bash” reception rounds out the day.

For tomorrow, the day begins with ACPA’s distinguished service awards breakfast and presentations.  ACPA’s popular Concrete Pavement University follows with eight educational/tech transfer tracks presented by experts from industry, owners/agencies, and academia.

Rounding out the annual meeting will be the ACPA’s 30th Annual “Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards” reception and awards banquet.  It’s at this event, where we reveal the Gold & Silver award projects and recipients, continuing the tradition of recognizing the best of the best in concrete paving.  Look for complete coverage of the awards presentation on ACPA’s website, beginning on Wed., December 5.
