In Tempe, AZ, diamond grinding began last Friday on the Price Freeway Design Build Project, says Larry Scofield.

The project, which was originally supposed to have rubberized asphalt placed, was change ordered to conventional diamond grinding.

Approximately 500,000 sq yds of diamond grinding will be constructed by Diamond Surface, Inc.* of Minnesota.

The existing rubberized asphalt has been previously removed leaving only a thin layer remaining to be removed along with the PCCP grinding, Larry says. This is the second diamond grinding project to occur this year on the Phoenix freeway. Grinding is accomplished during night closures.
