The Annual KDOT/Industry Technology Transfer Event held in Abilene, KS, last week was a big success, says Todd LaTorella, Missouri/Kansas Chapter Executive.
The event drew 40 officials from KDOT, FHWA, Kansas State University, City of Salina, and industry. The group reviewed the performance of the SPS-2 concrete pavement test sections along a 2.5 mile stretch along I-70.
The purpose of the event was to evaluate the performance of the 13 individual test sections and the different design variables being showcased (PCCP thickness, PCCP strength, Base Type & Drainage Condition, & Edge Support Condition).
Presentations and discussion followed the next morning regarding the next phase of the pooled fund study, which will look at preservation strategy performance/life. The event also included a reception/dinner at Mr. K’s Farmhouse in Abilene.
