Heather Steffek has joined the ACPA-New York State Chapter as Director of Operations. “I started my career in the concrete industry as a union carpenter’s apprentice on concrete bridge and highway structures,” she says, adding, “I then tested concrete during college, and spent the following 10 years working for the Northeast Cement Shippers Association in various capacities.”
More recently, she served as a Market Manager for LafargeHolcim, an ACPA member, in Hudson, NY. At LafargeHolcim, her responsibilities included developing, maintaining, and strengthening customer relationships and protecting market share. She also forecasted and budgeted across customer portfolio within 90% accuracy.
At the PCA Northeast Region formerly the Northeast Cement Shippers’ Association, she served as Interim Executive Director, providing strong support to cement companies and collaborating on promotion, business continuity and government relations to further industry goals. She also was responsible for membership outreach, recruitment and retention and partnering with other organizations to advance the use of portland cement in roadways, ready mixed concrete, concrete masonry, precast/prestressed concrete, and other applications. Prior to that, she served as the organization’s Road Recycling Specialist, and in that role, promoted use of portland cement, working with key decision makers and influencers including the New York State DOT, engineers, township and county highway officials and contractors. She also served the association in a marketing role, providing strong support in marketing, promotional, and communications.
