Chapters Call for DOT and Highway Program Funding
- Wednesday, 13 May 2020 13:17
The ACPA chapter affiliates last week sent a letter to House and Senate leadership expressing strong support for immediate relief funding to DOTs and timely action on a multi-year highway reauthorization bill.
The letter was addressed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY).
Writing on behalf of the U.S. concrete pavement industry, the chapter affiliates urge “strong support for granting the immediate use of $50 billion in flexible federal funding to offset the significant revenues shortfalls facing state departments of transportation.”
The chapters also call on Congress to suspend any state/local match requirement on federal aid projects (i.e. 100% federal share) for a two-year period and to “take up a multi-year highway reauthorization bill with significant investment increases that provide states with a measure of certainty that can propel our Nation to economic recovery and prosperity.” Click here to view the letter.

Chapter Events Set the Gold Standard
- Tuesday, 26 February 2019 09:51
Throughout the year, ACPA-affiliated Chapters hold workshops, conferences, and other events that provide members, agencies/owners, consultants and others with tremendous opportunities to learn more about the best practices, new resources, emerging technologies, developing trends, and more.
Beginning with this issue of ACPA TODAY, we are including a few highlights of these events. Our goal is to provide insights into the major topics discussed, while also sharing other details, including the innovative and creative things the Chapter executives and staff are doing to make these events even more valuable to attendees and guests.
As you read their stories, please consider that registration totals can be impacted by travel policies, weather, and a number of other factors. The real story about the attendees is that Chapters are drawing the ‘A-list’ of customers, members, and other stakeholders who are not only important to the success of the event, but to the concrete pavement industry throughout the United States.
Our reports are in order of information received, so given the workloads and schedules of the chapter executives and staff, the events are not in chronological order. ACPA Hosts Interns for the Future
- Tuesday, 10 July 2018 15:28
What’s the best way for a recent college graduate and newcomer to the industry to learn more about concrete pavements and paving?
By participating in ACPA’s first “Intern Week,” of course. The 2-1/2 day program this week includes overview presentations about the concrete pavement industry, as well as pavement design, construction, and rehab & preservation, along with materials used in concrete paving. The participants in ACPA’s first are:
• Ryan Pendeville, Golden Triangle Construction Co.*
• Thomas Jacob, RexCon Inc.* (a Division of Astec Industries, Inc.)
• Kyle Myers, Koss Construction Company*
• William Robinson, Missouri/Kansas-ACPA*
• Scott Perry, Southeast Chapter-ACPA*
• Dean Thomas, Milestone Construction L.P.*
Presenting the program were Jerry Voigt, Leif Wathne, and Eric Ferrebee (ACPA), Greg Dean (Carolinas Concrete Paving Association), and Todd LaTorella (Missouri/Kansas Chapter). Special thanks also go to the members, companies and Chapters who sponsored interns and/or participated in this important professional development program. This event grew from ACPA’s Interns for the Future Program, first announced in 2017.
