ACPA Presents at Iowa Workshop

The Iowa Concrete Paving Association’s 56th Annual Workshop last week included a solid line-up of technical and business presentations.

An estimated 650 attendees from industry, the public sector and academia attended the annual event. Concrete pavement jointing (basics, specs and standards and rehabilitation and preservation methods) was a major focus for the first day of the three-day event.

Jerry Voigt and Gary Mitchell participated in the meeting, delivering technical education and program updates. Jerry presented a national update on ACPA programs, including an update on promotion efforts, a current and projected market share outlook, and details about a number of current and planned ACPA programs and projects. Gary Mitchell led one of five breakout sessions, leading a discussion on placing concrete pavements using the updated FAA P-501 spec for concrete pavement airfields. In addition to discussing some of the changes ACPA advocated for (and which were included in the most recent update to P-501), Gary also described why those changes were important to concrete pavement contractors and suppliers.

The workshop program also included updates and other presentations from the CP Tech Center, MIT Sustainability Hub and other companies and organizations, as well as an awards program.

Save the Dates for ACPA’s Annual Meeting

ACPA is encouraging members to save the dates for the Association’s 54th Annual Meeting, which will be held Tuesday, November 28, to Thursday, November 30 at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego.

The theme of this year’s meeting is, “Building Gleaming New Lanes of Concrete,” which was inspired by the Administration’s pledge to prioritize and invest significantly in the nation’s infrastructure.

For those wishing to secure discount hotel rooms now, ACPA has an active link for online registration at:  2017meeting.acpa.org.  To reserve a room select, “Check for Accommodations Here” on the event website.

In addition to an exciting urban venue for the meeting this year, the annual meeting will feature committee and task force meetings, peer discussions, and the popular, “Concrete Pavement University” education and tech transfer tracks.  The event also will include a golf outing, social and networking events, and other opportunities for relaxation and fun in the area.

Interested in sponsoring the annual meeting (and other events for the 2017/2018 season)?  Please click here for a flyer that includes sponsorship opportunities and payment information.

Additional information, including the preliminary program and event registration details will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Sponsorship Program Gains Strong Support

A new approach to sponsoring popular ACPA events has gained the support of members, allies, and Chapter/State affiliates.   Unveiled in early August, the program allows sponsors to select one or more popular events, including the ACPA Annual Meeting (November 29 through December 1); the ACPA Reception at the 96th Annual Transportation Board Meeting (January 9); and the ACPA Mid-Year Meeting (date and location to be determined).

The new program offers options for year-round recognition and brand access, along with other benefits that enhance customer relationships and provide added visibility at major industry events.   The new program is also designed to help members, allies, and affiliates with year round visibility.

With grateful acknowledgement and thanks, ACPA is pleased to recognize the following companies for their sponsorship pledges in the 2016/2017 cycle.   Their contributions help offset program costs and enhance the experience for all participants.
