ACPA Staff Focus on Technical and Trade Events

Two focal points for ACPA staff (as well as many members and Chapter/State affiliates) are the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB’s) 96th Annual Meeting and World of Concrete 2017.

Both events are headliners for January, with the TRB meeting starting yesterday and World of Concrete starting next Monday.  ACPA’s 2017 Chairperson Lori Tiefenthaler (Lehigh Hanson, Inc.) will play a key role at both events.

At TRB in Washington, D.C., ACPA staff will participate in many of the research and technology presentations, gleaning from them some of the latest developments in transportation construction research, while also looking for opportunities to both apply some of those findings and participate in discussions that impact ACPA members and our agency/owner customers.  Along with Chairperson Tiefenthaler, ACPA’s Jerry Voigt, Leif Wathne, Gary Mitchell, and Eric Ferrebee are participating in the week’s events, which iniclude various technical forums, as well as meetings with key agency officials.

One highlight of the TRB meeting is the annual ACPA/TRB Annual Reception, which is being held this evening.   The event allows transportation-research officials, customer contacts with state DOT’s, and industry to meet in an informal, relaxed setting to discuss current and emerging issues of relevance to the concrete pavement industry, as well as agencies/owners.

Sponsorship Program Gains Strong Support

A new approach to sponsoring popular ACPA events has gained the support of members, allies, and Chapter/State affiliates.   Unveiled in early August, the program allows sponsors to select one or more popular events, including the ACPA Annual Meeting (November 29 through December 1); the ACPA Reception at the 96th Annual Transportation Board Meeting (January 9); and the ACPA Mid-Year Meeting (date and location to be determined).

The new program offers options for year-round recognition and brand access, along with other benefits that enhance customer relationships and provide added visibility at major industry events.   The new program is also designed to help members, allies, and affiliates with year round visibility.

With grateful acknowledgement and thanks, ACPA is pleased to recognize the following companies for their sponsorship pledges in the 2016/2017 cycle.   Their contributions help offset program costs and enhance the experience for all participants.

ACPA Offers New Sponsorship Opportunities

2016-17-ACPA-Sponsorship Program Form_Page_1ACPA has introduced a new sponsorship program that allows members, chapter/state affiliates, and technology partners to increase their visibility at key events, while also allowing a greater amount of time for planning and budgeting for those events.

ACPA hosts several major annual events that provide great value to members, agencies/owners, and others in the transportation-construction community.   These are time-honored events, and equally important, are highly rated events that are well attended by members and customers alike.

Sponsorships are vital to the success of these events because they allow ACPA to offset costs, while also enriching the experience for participants. (Consider, for example, that sponsors helped ACPA conduct one of its most successful annual meetings, which included increased contractor participation, over 50 talented speakers, and an outstanding, high-energy paving awards program.)

To increase the value of sponsorships, ACPA has expanded its program to provide increased visibility and greater duration of sponsorship, as well as to allow more lead time for planning. Upcoming annual events include:

• ACPA’s 53rd Annual Meeting, to be held in Austin, Texas, from November 29 through December 1;

• ACPA’s annual reception at the Transportation Research Board’s 96th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The reception will be held January 9, the second evening of the meeting, which is scheduled for January 8 through 12; and

• The ACPA Mid-Year Meeting, to be held in Chicago in late June 2017. This meeting is where ACPA members, ACPA staff, and chapter/state executives come together to review current plans and programs, and to discuss future plans.

ACPA is offering various packages, which include increased website exposure, complimentary event registrations, and other recognitions not previously offered by ACPA.

ACPA is encouraging members and affiliates to select options that best fit their companies’ goals.  The Association is also encouraging early commitments, which will allow increased visibility for the upcoming annual meeting and other events.   Please use the online sponsorship form to select your options today.

Transportation Research Board Recap

TRB-2016-95thmeetingI had the pleasure of meeting with many ACPA members, Chapter/State executives, and members of the transportation-construction research community during the Transportation Research Board’s 95th annual meeting in Washington last week.

This is the world’s top gathering for this important group of research professionals, and it was great to hear ideas, feedback, and perspectives on accomplishments and needs, particularly as they relate to concrete pavements.

As you know, ACPA hosts an annual reception at TRB, and this is a great event for sharing information and building on relationships in a casual, relaxed setting.  Cedar Valley Corp. was proud to be among the sponsors of the ACPA/TRB reception, and it bears mentioning each of those other sponsors by name, because their generosity makes this popular event possible each year.

A full list of our sponsors follows, and special thanks go to our sponsors and guests.
