The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is planning an important and timely event to combat human trafficking. The event takes place next Tuesday at 11 am (Eastern) at the agency’s Washington, DC, headquarters.
The agency is seeking pledges from transportation leaders to support efforts to stop human trafficking. ACPA will support the event through an email to transportation leaders in the concrete pavement industry, as well as through social media.
USDOT officials say almost 25 million people worldwide are victims of modern slavery. Human traffickers rely on transportation systems to move victims to various locations, and the DOT officials say “transportation leaders have an opportunity to amplify counter-trafficking efforts to help combat this heinous crime.”
