TEXAS – ACPA Director of Technical Services, Eric Ferrebee, and ACPA Director of Pavement Innovation, Larry Scofield, are in Round Rock, Texas, presenting a full suite of concrete pavement knowledge. Ferrebee will be keying conference participants in on leading ACPA online resources with a focus on PavementDesigner.org and recent updates to case histories and WikiPave. His second presentation at the 2021 TxDOT / CCT Concrete Conference will contribute to the conference’s “Proven Solutions” section and dive into the details and best practices of bonded concrete overlays of asphalt pavements. The presentation will draw on the newly released 4th edition of the CP Tech Center’s Guide to Concrete Overlays (read more about the guide later in the newsletter). Scofield will be taking conference participants through the history of Next Generation Concrete Surfaces, detailing the need for, development, implementation, and impacts of the technique. Scofield’s 14-year overview will be an authoritative review of the practice that revolutionized quiet concrete pavement.
MASSACHUSETTS – ACPA Executive Vice President, Leif Wathne, was in Massachusetts on Monday for a meeting with MassDOT Highway Division leadership (including Carrie Lavallee, Chief Engineer, and John Bechard, Deputy Chief Engineer of Project Development) regarding concrete pavement solutions. The meeting, coordinated by Craig Dauphinais (MACAPA), included industry representatives from LafargeHolcim (Brian Barry) and NRMCA (Luke McHugh) and academia from the CP Tech Center (Dr. Peter Taylor and Gordon Smith) and MIT (Dr. Randy Kirchain).
