It’s Chapter Workshop Season!
ACPA and Chapter State Executives have been busy planning and presenting at local workshops. See below for highlights from Chapters around the country.
Iowa Concrete Pavement Association Workshop
The Iowa Concrete Pavement Association hosted their annual paving workshop in Des Moines, IA last week. ACPA’s Chief Engineer Gary Mitchell and Senior Director of Technical Services Eric Ferrebee attended the conference and gave presentations on ACPA association updates and resiliency. In addition to ACPA presentations, many industry partners and government agencies presented pressing issues such as an economic update and e-ticketing to ICPA members. The group also honored Steve Jackson of Cedar Valley Corp., ACPA’s 2022 Hartmann-Hirschman-Eagan Award Winner, during the final awards dinner.

South Dakota Chapter Workshop
Eric Ferrebee also attended the South Dakota Chapter of ACPA’s Annual Conference in Deadwood, SD this week. Ferrebee’s presentation was on ACPA’s PavementDesigner.org software. He provided an overview of how the software works and was developed as well as a demonstration of its features. The conference concluded with keynote speakers on working with new and different generations in business.

Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association Workshop
ACPA Board of Directors Chairman Steve Friess and Eric Ferrebee are attending the Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association’s annual Workshop in Oshkosh, WI this week. Friess presented an update on ACPA and Ferrebee will present on sustainability, the ACPA white paper and Overlays. ACPA’s Marketing Consultant Kimberly Kayler presented our marketing plan at the membership meeting as well. The workshop also featured scholarship presentations to local students, FHWA updates and construction management best practices.

New York State Chapter Workshop
The ACPA New York State Chapter will host its annual meeting this week in Saratoga Springs, New York. ACPA’s President and CEO, Laura O’Neill Kaumo will be a keynote speaker. The workshop includes topics on Rapid Repairs of PCC Pavement, the Impact of Cool Pavements on Urban Heat Island, Updates to the New York State DOT Comprehensive Pavement Design Manual and others. The ACPA NYS Chapter’s Bill Cuerdon will present on New York State’s experience with PCC Pavements and Permeable Bases. IGGA/ACPA’s Larry Scofield will be presenting on Achieving PCC Pavement Smoothness with Diamond Grinding.

Pennsylvania Chapter Workshop
There is still time to register for the Pennsylvania Chapter’s annual conference. All are welcome to register and attend the conference regardless of membership status. The workshop will take place February 22-23 in Harrisburg, PA. The conference will feature presentations on PennDOT programming, academia poster sessions, and resiliency.
