ACPA Celebrates 2024 Distinguished Service Award Winners

ACPA is excited to celebrate the winners of the 2024 Distinguished Service Awards.

The Harold Halm Presidential Award is presented in recognition of significant contributions to the concrete pavement industry. This year’s recipient, Matt Zeller with the Concrete Pavement Association of Minnesota, has provided decades of expert technical and promotional leadership to the concrete pavement industry.

The Lifetime Pavement Recognition Award (Airport) is awarded annually to the agency owner of an in-service concrete pavement that has demonstrated exceptional performance and service to its local community, state, and users. The 2024 recipient, The Dare County Regional Airport, has served the Outer Banks community from its Roanoke Island location since 1943 and facilitates more than 32,000 landings and takeoffs each year. ACPA is pleased to recognize the Airport for the exceptional longevity, durability, and resilience of their concrete projects.

Presented to, Bernard Izevbekhai with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Marlin J. Knutson Award for Technical Achievement acknowledges significant contributions to advance the development and implementation of technical innovations and best practices in the design and construction of concrete pavements. A research leader behind MnROAD, Bernard has received worldwide recognition and contributed greatly to the recent innovations and application of new concrete paving ideas and technologies.

The Outstanding Pavement Promotion Award 2024 recipient is Brent Burwell with the ACPA Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter. Presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to advance the development and implementation of technical innovations and best practices in the design and construction of concrete pavements, this award acknowledges Brent’s technical expertise, respect within the industry, and exemplary service to the industry for more than 20 years.

ACPA is honored to acknowledge Glenn Eder, retired, American Highway, as the 2024 recipient of the Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award. This award annually recognizes someone who has made significant contributions to advance the development and implementation of technical innovations and best practices in the design and construction of concrete pavements. Because of his lifetime of achievements within the concrete pavement industry, Glenn is a worthy recipient of this prestigious recognition.
