Kentucky Concrete Association Represented in Infrastructure Discussion with Federal Leaders

The Kentucky Concrete Association’s Brett Ruffing recently participated in an Infrastructure Roundtable with Congressman Andy Barr and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The roundtable highlighted the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s central role in the nation’s overall infrastructure.

Discussions like these are critical in raising awareness around the role concrete paving serves in the overall infrastructure conversation on state and federal levels. With 20 interstates and parkways located in Kentucky, concrete pavement has an important role to play.

In addition to discussing infrastructure funding and workforce development challenges, Ruffing emphasized the importance of investing in resilient infrastructure that delivers decades of service while maximizing the value of taxpayer dollars. Ensuring the concrete paving industry’s perspective is included in state and federal conversations around shaping the future of America’s transportation infrastructure is critical to our industry.

ACPA Honors Sarah Bazey with the 2026 Harold Haim President Award

ACPA is pleased to announce the 2026 Harold Haim President Award winner, Sarah Bazey. Known for her fierce advocacy for the industry and her work as the ACPA Foundation Chair, Sarah has served the concrete industry with American Highway for nearly four decades. In 2024, Sarah led the ACPA Foundation through a successful re-launch, dedicating its efforts to supporting the industry’s emerging leaders, expanding critical research, and increasing access to educational programming designed to elevate the entire industry.

Sarah has earned the respect of her peers through her tireless work to elevate the concrete paving industry.

“Sarah has dedicated more than three decades to the concrete pavement industry, and few people have given more of their time, energy and leadership to advancing it. Her work relaunching the ACPA Foundation is a great example of who Sarah is. She saw an opportunity to build something our industry needed and then put in the work to make it happen.

Under Sarah’s leadership, the Foundation has gone from an idea with tremendous potential to an organization with real purpose and momentum, focused on developing our emerging leaders, advancing research and education, and investing in the long-term future of our industry. The fact that the Foundation raised more than $150,000 before its official launch speaks to both Sarah’s leadership and the trust she has earned throughout our industry.

ACPA Foundation Grant Opportunities—Apply by Sept. 15 

Do you have a bold idea for innovative research or educational programs that could make a lasting impact? The ACPA Foundation is seeking innovative proposals for programs that drive longevity, innovation and resilience in the concrete pavement industry. Proposals are reviewed twice a year and the next round of decisions will be made in early December, so get your applications in by September 15th for consideration in this round.

Focus areas include:

  • Material economics
  • Emerging technologies
  • Infrastructure resilience
  • Leadership development

Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $40,000 to three impactful projects that advance our mission. This year, we’re looking for new projects to fund. Review our guidelines and evaluation criteria, then submit your proposal by Sept. 15.

Silent Auction—Donate a Package by Sept. 30 

Help us make the 2026 ACPA Foundation Silent Auction our best yet!

The Silent Auction returns to December’s ACPA Annual Meeting for its third year, building on last year’s incredible success of more than $23,000 raised to support innovative research and strategic partnerships across the concrete pavement industry. This fundraiser is a cornerstone of our efforts, raising essential funds to support our commitment to education, innovation and the future of our industry.

We’re accepting package donations valued at $250 or more, including:

  • Gift certificates for dining or retail.
  • Travel packages and hotel stays.
  • Tickets to sporting events or concerts.
  • Unique art, industry-related memorabilia or handmade goods.
  • Themed gift baskets—could be specific to your state!
  • Professional services or consultations.

Every donation is tax deductible and helps raise funds for what matters most: critical research, scholarships and grants for the next generation and professional development for emerging leaders. Organizations that contribute will receive exclusive promotional recognition leading up to the event and in person at the ACPA Annual Meeting in December.
