Mitchell Presents to Air Force Institute of Technology

Last week, ACPA Chief Engineer Gary Mitchell was at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. During his visit, he provided  a guest lecture to their ENG 550-24A Pavement Design Class. The lecture was related to airfield pavement jointing and the importance of details. The class is attended by about 20 military and civilian personnel from across the United States involved in pavement design and construction of military airfields. In addition to theoretical concepts about jointing and providing industry standards, Mitchell discussed complexities in airfield paving, paving airfield pavement from the contractor’s perspective, and the importance of using sound engineering judgement during enforcement of specifications.
