Updated Streamlined Pavement LCA & LCCA Tool Now Available

The MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub has released a new version of the streamlined Pavement LCA and LCCA tool. The updated version now includes pavement LCCA analyses and visualization, unit conversions for material emission calculations and pavement design sections, and improved bar plot visualization.

The next Tech Tuesday webinar, Accelerated Project Development and Delivery, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, at noon Central.

For years it had been common practice for ODOT field districts to put together simple plans sets for contractors to bid on for their asphalt overlay projects enabling them to quickly get projects out to bid without going through the roadway design division. When their engineers began considering concrete overlay projects they followed the same thought process – no utilities to move, no right-of-way to purchase, no added capacity, just simply a maintenance operation. Field district engineers developed their own plans sets drastically reducing design time and still getting exactly what they needed.

Presenters include Brent Burwell, P.E., Executive Director, Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter, ACPA and Jerod Gross, P.E., LEED AP, Civil/Transportation Engineer, Synder & Associates.

Paving the Way for Tomorrow’s Engineers: ACPA Engages Students at FGCU’s Concrete Exposure Day

Last week, the ACPA participated in Florida Gulf Coast University’s annual Concrete Exposure Day, held on October 7, 2025. The event brought together industry professionals, students, and faculty to explore the latest innovations in concrete technology and construction practices. ACPA’s Senior Director of Technical Services, Eric Ferrebee, P.E., delivered a presentation on concrete airport and airfield pavements, highlighting best practices and technical insights for durable infrastructure. Eric was joined in covering concrete pavements by Jerod Gross of Snyder and Associates covering Inspection of Concrete Paving. The event served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional development, reinforcing ACPA’s commitment to education and industry collaboration while supporting ACPA’s Florida Chapter, the Florida Concrete & Products Association.
