ACPA Connects with County Engineers at NACE Annual Conference 

This week, the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) held its annual conference in Arlington, Texas, bringing together county engineers from across the country to collaborate on infrastructure challenges and opportunities. ACPA was actively engaged throughout the event, connecting with attendees at the ACPA booth in the exhibit hall.

While concrete pavements can sometimes be overlooked by county agencies, many states — including Iowa, Minnesota, and others — have successfully leveraged concrete pavements and overlays to deliver durable, long-lasting, and low-maintenance roadway solutions. ACPA was proud to highlight these successes and share how concrete can help counties achieve resilient and cost-effective infrastructure.

ACPA Engages with Industry Leaders at ACI Spring Convention 

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently held its Spring Convention in Rosemont, Illinois, bringing together industry experts and technical leaders from across the concrete community. Eric Ferrebee, ACPA’s Senior Director of Technical Services, actively participated in key committees related to concrete pavements, including the Concrete Pavements (325), Roller-Compacted Concrete Pavements (327), and Concrete Parking Lots and Site Paving (330) committees.

These committees play a vital role in advancing the industry by developing technical guides, reports, and guide specifications that support innovation and best practices in concrete pavement design and construction. Tools such as PavementDesigner are regularly utilized and referenced within these committees, helping practitioners apply practical, state-of-the-art design solutions.

ACPA’s ongoing engagement with ACI ensures that the concrete pavement industry’s needs and perspectives are reflected in the technical resources widely used across the country.

ACPA Helps Shape National Concrete Dialogue at NCC Meeting 

ACPA recently participated in the National Concrete Consortium (NCC) in San Diego, a collaborative forum that brings together state departments of transportation, academia, and industry leaders to address emerging challenges and opportunities in concrete pavements and bridges. Held twice annually, the meeting is guided by an executive committee that shapes the technical agenda and sets priorities for discussion.

Eric Ferrebee recently concluded a four-year term on the NCC Executive Committee, where ACPA plays an active role in guiding the program and ensuring that industry perspectives were represented. His involvement helped bring key topics—such as material innovation, construction efficiency, and long-life pavement strategies—to the forefront of discussions with agency engineers from across the country.

Sarah Dalton has been elected to succeed Ferrebee on the committee, ensuring ACPA maintains a strong voice in shaping national priorities, influencing agency specifications, and advancing the performance and sustainability of concrete pavements.
