ACPA Strengthens Industry Voice Through Active AASHTO Engagement

Sarah Dalton and Eric Ferrebee recently represented ACPA at meetings of the AASHTO Committee on Materials and Pavements and the Pavement ME Design Users Group, providing an updated during the pavement design committee meeting. Their participation helps ACPA stay informed about changes to pavement design tools, research, specifications, and state DOT practices while providing opportunities to promote better optimization of concrete pavement designs. By remaining active in these important AASHTO groups, ACPA can help shape technical discussions, communicate industry priorities, and reinforce its role as a resource for state agencies.

ACPA and KCA Deliver Airfield Pavement Training at CVG Airport

The Kentucky Concrete Association hosted a Lunch-and-Learn at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for the airport’s Planning and Design team. Harold Honey, Chief Engineer for ACPA, provided more than 20 airport staff members with an introduction to airfield pavement design principles for planners, along with an overview of quality control and quality assurance requirements associated with the FAA P-501 airfield concrete specification. Following the presentation, Harold and the KCA team joined airport staff for an airfield tour, providing an opportunity to view ongoing construction as well as several recently completed concrete pavement projects. The event offered airport staff a valuable combination of technical education and firsthand insight into the design, construction, and quality considerations associated with concrete airfield pavement.

ACPA Brings the Heat in Hot Springs With Two Key Presentations

The Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter of ACPA recently hosted its 2026 Annual Arkansas Concrete Pavement Conference in Hot Springs. The event brought together DOT engineers and consultants as well as ACPA members and other industry professionals to learn about the hot button topics in concrete pavements. Laura O’Neill Kaumo, ACPA’s President and CEO helped kick off the program by providing ACPA’s perspective on federal funding for infrastructure. ACPA’s Eric Ferrebee educated attendees on the importance of pavement design optimization and how everyone can play a role in that process to improve designs.

The 2026 Airport Workshop Lands in Arizona This October

ACPA is excited to bring the annual Airport Workshop to Arizona, October 27-29, 2026. This premier three-day event brings together industry professionals to explore the latest best practices in the design, construction, and rehabilitation of concrete pavements for airport applications. Attendees will gain valuable insights through technical presentations, expert-led discussions, and opportunities to connect with peers from across the industry.

The workshop is expected to feature technical subject matter experts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Transportation Center, the Federal Aviation Administration Office of Airport Safety and Standards, the Air Force Civil Engineering Center, and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in open discussions about interpreting and applying airport concrete pavement specifications used by the FAA P-501 and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) 32 13 14.13 specifications.

Tech Tuesday Webinar Highlights Strategies for Extending Concrete Pavement Life
