ACPA Participates in Airport Symposium 

ACPA’s Chief Engineer Gary Mitchell was on a panel with the FAA at the AAAE/ACC Airport Planning, Design, and Construction Symposium last week in Anaheim, CA. There were over 1,600 engineers and planners in attendance at the symposium to hear updates on different airport planning specifications. Mitchell and FAA provided an update on the Airport Concrete Paving technology program and fielded questions from attendees.

Missouri/Kansas Workshop

ACPA’s Missouri/Kansas Chapter held their 43rd Annual Concrete Pavement Conference last week in Kansas City, MO. ACPA President & CEO Laura O’Neill Kaumo presented an ACPA National Update. ACPA’s Senior Director of Technical Services Eric Ferrebee and Engineering Services Consultant Tim Martin also presented at the conference. Martin focused on the use of concrete overlays for general aviation airports, and Ferrebee’s presentation covered the proper design and construction of concrete roundabouts. The conference also had sessions on sustainable infrastructure, concrete pavement restoration, and performance engineered mixtures. View the full agenda here. 

 

Colorado/Wyoming Workshop

The Annual Concrete Pavement Workshop of ACPA’s Colorado/Wyoming Chapter was held last week in Denver, CO. Eric Ferrebee presented on sustainability throughout the concrete pavement life cycle. Gary Mitchell also presented covering several topics related to airports, including P-501 & P-610 specifications, recently issued Engineering Bulletins, and LCCA. Larry Scofield, ACPA’s Director of Pavement Innovation, also attended, discussing long-term pavement smoothness. The chapter also presented their Excellence in Concrete Paving Awards, and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was presented with the Sustainable Practices Recognition Award that was announced at ACPA’s Annual Meeting last year. Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota Workshop

The Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota will hold their Annual Concrete Paving Workshop this week. The theme of the conference is Concrete Pavements: “A Better Way”. Ferrebee will be presenting on sustainability including highlighting ACPA’s new white paper. Industry partners such as the CP Tech Center and Tyler Ley will be presenting on emerging issues at the conference as well. Other topics that will be covered include concrete overlay performance, LCCA, and roundabouts. The event will also include their award ceremony for outstanding projects during the past year.
