Last week, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg announced a historic $800 million in grant awards for over 500 projects through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program. This program provides $5 billion dollars over five years for initiatives to help prevent death and serious injury on the nation’s roadways.
The awardees will fund improved safety planning for over half of the nation’s population and will change how roadway safety is addressed in communities through local efforts that are comprehensive and data driven.
The full list of awards can be viewed here. More funding is expected to be released in April. For more information on the program and the grant process, click here.
