In the Mix: A Message from President & CEO Laura O’Neill Kaumo
Building Momentum for Airports, Technical Leadership, and Member Engagement
The concrete pavement industry continues to build momentum, and there has never been a better time to become more engaged with ACPA.
This week, ACPA partnered with the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center to host a successful Tech Tuesday webinar focused on concrete overlays for General Aviation airports. The webinar highlighted growing opportunities in the general aviation market while demonstrating how sound engineering, technical expertise, and effective promotion work together to preserve, and more importantly, grow concrete pavement markets. The webinar is recorded and will be available within a few days for on demand viewing if you missed the live session. Check out all Tech Tuesday webinars at https://www.cptechcenter.org/webinars-and-videos/.
The conversation doesn’t stop there for the airfield market.
We invite you to join us this October in Tempe, AZ for ACPA’s Airport Workshop, where airport owners, consultants, contractors, and industry leaders will come together to discuss the latest advances in airport pavement design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance. This year’s program will be hosted by ACPA’s Chief Engineer, Harold Honey, whose decades of FAA and military tri-service airfield pavement leadership and technical expertise are already strengthening ACPA’s role as the industry’s trusted technical resource. Harold will be joined by Sarah Dalton and our technical services team, who continue to provide members with industry-leading engineering support, technical assistance, educational programming, and practical solutions that help contractors and agencies deliver successful concrete pavement projects.
Whether you’re facing a technical challenge on an airport, highway, or local roadway project, ACPA’s technical staff is here to help. From pavement design and construction best practices to troubleshooting field issues and evaluating rehabilitation strategies, our team remains committed to supporting members and protecting concrete pavement markets through engineering excellence.
As we look toward 2027, ACPA is also seeking members who want to play a more active role in shaping the future of the association. Our committee structure has been retooled to better align with our strategic priorities, and committees will be operating on a much more active, year-round schedule.
While our Advocacy and Marketing Committees have reached capacity, we are still looking for volunteers to serve on our Design & Engineering, Quality Control, and Research, Technology & Innovation Subcommittees. We are especially interested in expanding participation from contractor members and Emerging Leaders, ensuring that the voices of those building our nation’s infrastructure are represented as technical priorities are developed.
Committee participation will extend well beyond a few conference calls. Members will have opportunities to engage throughout the year and beyond, including activities surrounding the Airport Workshop in Tempe, our Annual Meeting in Florida, the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, World of Concrete in Las Vegas, the Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In, and ACPA’s Mid-Year Meeting in New Orleans, along with regular committee meetings and ongoing project work between events.
The strength of ACPA has always been the expertise and commitment of its members. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to make an impact, share your experience, grow your professional network, and help shape the future of the concrete pavement industry, we encourage you to get involved. Keep reading for details on how to sign up for ACPA committee and subcommittees.
Together, we’re building stronger technical programs, stronger advocacy, stronger promotion and ultimately, stronger markets for concrete pavement.
