Celebrating the People and Projects Behind Concrete Paving

Drumroll please…it’s that day we wait for all year long! It’s the day we announce our Excellence in Concrete Pavement Award winners! This year’s winners represent an extraordinary body of work from across the country celebrating the very best that America has to offer in concrete paving. These projects demonstrate the innovation, craftsmanship and commitment to quality that define our industry. Not to mention, long-lasting, generational investments that will be viable for many years to come.

Not to be overlooked by all the magnificent projects, are this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipients. While each deserves recognition, I want to pause to congratulate our 2026 Outstanding Pavement Promotion Award: ACPA – Southeast Chapter previous Executive Director Greg Dean (retired).

Greg is a dedicated and talented engineer and promoter responsible for a large, multistate territory. He is particularly skilled in the aviation market, where he has helped convert multiple airport projects to concrete while creating broader opportunities for concrete paving throughout the Carolinas and various regions in the south. His technical knowledge, persistence and ability to build relationships exemplify what effective pavement promotion looks like. He is also a pleasure to work with and exudes professionalism and kindness with every interaction. Congratulations to Greg!

While we celebrate him as an individual, it is important to remember that none of the projects we celebrate through our awards program happen in isolation. Behind our contractors is a network of promoters, Chapter/State Executives and technical professionals working through the ACPA federation to create opportunities, influence pavement decisions and support projects from concept through construction.

That work is funded through national dues and project assessments including assessments for work performed outside a contractor’s home state. ACPA members should ensure that the appropriate assessments are paid where their projects are located, even when they are active members of a different state chapter. When there is an ACPA chapter, there is a promoter working to help make that project (and future projects!) possible. Traveling-work assessments ensure those professionals have the resources to continue doing so.

Our members should be proud of the exceptional work they perform and equally proud of the team standing behind them, helping create the opportunities that make those award-winning projects possible.

Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to the hard-working concrete paving promoters and ACPA staff. We will see you all in Hollywood, Florida!

Cheers,

Laura
