A $30 million collaboration between the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) aims to help communities in need compete for federal aid and deliver quality infrastructure projects. The Thriving Communities program has released a notice of funding opportunities (NOFO) for organizations wishing to provide capacity-building, planning, and technical assistance support to local entities participating in this program. Non-profits, state and local governments, Indian Tribes and philanthropic entities with capacity-building experience are eligible for cooperative agreements between $3.5 and $6 million. The NOFO is open until November 22, and DOT will be hosting webinars on various aspects of the program over the next few weeks. The webinar for prospective assistance providers will be on October 19 at 1 pm EDT, and the webinar for prospective assistance recipients will be on October 13 at 4 pm EDT. You can learn more about the program here.
