Infrastructure Betterment Projects Improve Resiliency
The Office of Federal Lands Highway (FLH) at FHWA have begun using Emergency Relief program funds beyond fixing damaged infrastructure by using funds to better infrastructure to be more resilient. In the announcement, they profiled many projects throughout the nation that thrive with betterment beyond repairs. These outcomes often included a higher cost but prevented repeated damage saving more money over the life of the pavement. Bringing these innovations to repair jobs creates more resilient and durable infrastructure and are being recognized for their lifetime cost savings and the immense benefits delivered to the communities they serve.
