The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued $4.9 billion in funding to projects throughout the country through two major discretionary grant programs. The 37 projects are funded through the National Infrastructure Project Assistance (or “Mega” grant program) and the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program. The Mega program looks to support projects that are uniquely large and complex, whereas the INFRA program looks to support transformational projects to improve safety, efficiency and reliability across both rural and urban areas.
