ACPA Participates in National Concrete Consortium Meeting
The National Concrete Consortium (NC2) held its Fall meeting last week. Eric Ferrebee and Larry Scofield participated in the meeting, which consisted of a series of 3-hour webinars held last Tuesday through Thursday.
The NC2 Meetings are hosted by the CP Tech Center as a venue for federal and state agencies, academia, and industry to discuss concrete pavement research and technology transfer initiatives.
Each day’s three-hour webinar featured two main themes related to concrete research and technology. Tuesday’s topics included alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) and lightweight cellular concrete. Each topic featured a variety of presenters including representatives from FHWA and PCA.
The program for Wednesday included State’s Experiences with performance engineered mixture (PEM) testing and dowel and tie bar performance, interactions, and experiences. Wednesday’s presenters included Kevin McMullen of the Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association. He presented an update on Wisconsin’s PEM implementation.
On Thursday, presentations included an update on the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) and other project updates, including a presentation by Dr. Tyler Ley of Oklahoma State University. His presentation explained what happens to the concrete air void system as the material is pumped.
