MIT Fact Sheet Describes Asset Management
The MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub has published a one-page fact sheet that defines and explains roadway network asset management.
The fact sheet, called “Asset Management,” cites a $420 billion backlog for highway and roadway improvements and adds DOTs need to make sure their asset management is as cost-effective as possible.
The one-pager describes a “mix of fixes,” noting that the approach of using a diverse set of paving materials mitigates financial risk for agencies. The executive level document also includes a case-history example describing how the North Carolina DOT could save $50 million annually over 50 years by embracing such an approach.
