Larry Scofield reported a successful kick-off for the SPS-2 Pavement Preservation Tech Days. The first event was in Arizona, and more are scheduled at other locations.
Approximately 70 people observed classroom-style presentations, then visited the field test sections. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) provided a lane closure so the participants could evaluate first-hand the three miles of 25 year old test sections.
One unique aspect of this event was that the contractor who built the project, 25 years earlier, participated both as a speaker in the workshop and as an evaluator in the field. In addition, a retired ADOT inspector who was on the original construction project, as well as the researcher involved in the design and construction also attended.
