In The Mix: A Message from President & CEO Laura O’Neill Kaumo
Winter is here and many pavers across the country are parked with few signs of Spring giving us hope for warmer days. From torrential rains in California to record one-day snowfalls in New York, this winter has been eventful and spared few. As we move into 2023 and look for paving season to fully ramp across the country, the concrete paving industry has a few items to feel optimistic about including inflation beginning to ease, contract values being up by as much as 30% in some parts of the country, and the White House confirming $185B of IIJA funding has been released, with more to come.
Winter also means trade show, expo and workshop season for the concrete paving industry. The World of Concrete show in Las Vegas, NV was a wonderful opportunity for ACPA’s new Chairman Steve Friess and ACPA’s Director of Member Services Anna McMullen to walk the show floor and greet ACPA members, while learning about new industry technology. ACPA’s Director of Technical Services Eric Ferrebee also launched ACPA’s first White Paper on Sustainability. The press coverage has been impressive and we look forward to continuing the conversation on resiliency playing a critical role in sustainability. Check out the story below on more of ACPA’s involvement at WOC and ACPA in the News.
Next up for ACPA and countless others around the industry is CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, NV dates. Look for the ACPA booth and swing by to say hello. Also, Save the Date for ACPA’s Mid-Year Meeting in Austin, TX June 5 – 8, 2023. ACPA intends to host three workshops this year (as opposed to its usual two) with topics including: talking about competition in a climate focused world, roads and streets as a new frontier, and optimization for long-life paving. Look for registration and official details near the end of February. We look forward to the live music scene in Austin, great BBQ, and great speakers and discussion.
