Walking the trade show floor in Las Vegas, NV last week at the 2023 CONEXPOCON/AGG with ACPA’s Chairman Steve Friess was a sensational opportunity to connect with ACPA members. The show crushed expected attendance numbers, drawing over 139,000 construction and fluid power professionals from 133 countries – making it the largest trade show in North America with more than 2,400 exhibitors from 36 countries spread out over 3 million square feet of exhibit space. Thank you to all who took the time to host us in your booths and for your support. The ACPA Board of Directors also took advantage of the time in Vegas to meet. Topics for discussion included implementation of IIJA, market growth in states like AZ where ACPA welcomed two new members Pulice and Salt River Materials Group, and a financial lookback for the Association. The Board agreed that membership growth and engagement is a priority for the next few years. Concrete paving has a great story to tell, it’s important to have as many contractor voices as possible telling that narrative across the country.

On the heels of CONEXPOCON/AGG, I traveled to Oklahoma City, OK to attend the ACPA OK/AR Annual Meeting. Brent Burwell and team put on a great program this year, with the OK Secretary of Transportation Tim Gatz welcoming the group. Oklahoma prides itself on being ahead of its paving needs across the state and it’s clear, there are a lot of things that that state is doing right when it comes to infrastructure.

As our state and regional workshops wrap-up, the energy for the upcoming paving season is contagious. ACPA staff is working hard to plan an engaging and educational line-up for Mid-Year Meeting, to be held in Austin, TX June 6-8. Registration is now open and this year’s event will include three technical workshops that will help you and your team engage in best practices, apply innovative solutions and technology, and learn from your colleagues and decision-makers across the country. Workshop topics include competition and sustainability, streets and local roads in an urban environment and optimizing pavement for long-life success. Additionally, there will be functional committee meetings and meaningful networking events to meet with members.

Finally, if you have not already, please take a moment to watch our new sustainability video which encapsulates our Sustainability White Paper. It is a phenomenal resource to help share the story of sustainability with your stakeholders.

I hope you are seeing signs of spring in your hometown!
