The Road Profilers Users Group (RPUG) held its 34th Annual conference April 25 – 28, with approximately 200 participants in Albany, NY. RPUG is recognized as a leading technical conference for bringing agency, industry, and vendors together to discuss and exhibit road-surface measurement equipment. The event was attended by ACPA CO/WY Chapter’s Sarah Sanders, NY APCA Chapter’s Heather Steffek, and ACPA/IGGA staff Larry Scofield.

This year’s meeting was especially important for the concrete pavement industry, as Sarah Sanders was elected to the RPUG Steering Committee — one of two industry representatives on the committee. Sanders is the only pavement-industry representative on the steering committee and will serve a three-year term in this position. Presentations at this year’s event included not only the typical updates on profiling, friction, and texture testing, but also visions of the use of 3D mapping and autonomous vehicle technologies for infrastructure management.
