As the end of the federal fiscal year approaches, Congress is back in session this week, facing deadlines for both the debt ceiling and government funding. Additionally, we’re less than a week away from the September 27th Speaker-imposed deadline for passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). During this critical time in the legislative process, it is imperative that we keep up the pressure on Capitol Hill to invest in physical infrastructure by year’s end. ACPA has joined a broad coalition pushing for the bill’s passage. To sign your own letter urging your Representative to pass the bill, click here.

As a reminder, in addition to a great program, we will be drafting our 2022 government affairs agenda at our Annual Meeting in Huntington Beach, CA – register here to be a part of shaping our activities.

We’re ready to hit the ground running if an infrastructure bill passes – we’ll be helping push our issues with lawmakers and state DOTs. Speaking of states, this week I traveled to New Paltz, NY for the Chapter/State Executives Mid-Year Meeting. It was wonderful to meet with Chapter leaders face-to-face and hear first-hand about the challenges and opportunities chapters are navigating.

Lastly, in this week’s edition, I encourage you to dig into the Rigid Pavement Design Guide put together by our Florida Chapter, check out Scott’s sustainability pitch for concrete paving, catch up on the NASAO conference, and spot Leif and Scott on the golf course in Iowa!
