In The Mix: A Message from President & CEO Laura O’Neill Kaumo
Welcome to the first edition of the 2022 ACPA Bi-Weekly Newsletter. I hope that all of you were able to spend some time with your loved ones celebrating the holidays and the New Year. It’s only day five of the new year, and we’ve already hit the ground running at ACPA. We’ve got an ambitious set of goals for 2022 and a motivated team ready to help ACPA and its member companies take advantage of the opportunities and manage the challenges of the next twelve months. I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to celebrating our successes at the 59th Annual Meeting in Nashville next December.
2022 kicks off with a few noteworthy events. Next week, we’ll host our annual reception at the Transportation Research Board Meeting in Washington, D.C. We hope to see you there! Thank you to our event sponsors. With your support, our reception at the Willard Hotel continues to be a highly anticipated gathering. Thanks to our new Chairman Ed Griffith (of St. Mary’s Cement), who, in addition to attending TRB, will spend his time in D.C. waving the ACPA flag by meeting with the Department of Transportation, Chamber of Commerce, and a few other key stakeholders reinforcing the vital role of concrete pavement in our infrastructure network.
After TRB, we’ll head to Las Vegas for World of Concrete, and then I will be back on the road meeting with our valued State/Chapter partners (personally, my favorite thing to do). I’m excited to connect with Florida, Wisconsin, and Iowa in the next few weeks and hear how ACPA National can continue to support the critical work they are doing at the state level. I can’t tell you how excited I am for my first full year as President and CEO. I look forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence and continuing to build our reputation as the voice of the concrete pavement industry.
Thanks again for your patience during what can best be described as a turbulent 2021. Seeing many of you in Huntingdon Beach was a great way to turn the page and set the tone for a productive year ahead.
Together, with the leadership of our Board of Directors, we will “Pave the Way” to a prosperous 2022.
This newsletter is packed with important information, including an FAA announcement on airport project opportunities, a last chance to sign up for World of Concrete, ACPA’s involvement in TRB, and three announcements from FHWA on overlays, IIJA guidance, and HTF disbursement.
