The FHWA and Colorado DOT (CDOT) are bringing the Mobile Concrete Trailer to Colorado on May 17. The open house is sponsored by the FHWA, CDOT, the CP Tech Center, and the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter-ACPA.

The open house will focus on Performance Engineered Mixture (PEM) test methods near the C-4 design-build project in South Denver. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CDOT maintenance yard, 8800 S. Wadsworth Blvd. in Littleton.

The MCT is a valuable resource to agencies and industry, and includes state-of-the-art concrete technology used in materials selection, mixture design, field and laboratory testing, and pavement evaluation. Some of the new and emerging test methods to be featured include:

  • The Super Air Meter (SAM), which measures air void characteristics of concrete;
  • Surface Resistivity, a rapid measurement that indicates concrete permeability;
  • Box Test, which measures workability; and
  • V-Kelly, another measure of workability.
