The House of Representatives has returned to Washington, DC in a rare August session to consider a few pending issues, including the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). While we have every reason to remain optimistic, as we noted last week, there are still several steps before the final passage and enactment of the IIJA. Speaker Pelosi is working to get complete support from the Democratic caucus to ensure the votes needed to pass the bill. Yesterday, the House voted on a rules package for debate of the legislation, which set up House passage by Sept. 27th.

Passage of the IIJA is the first step in a long process that dictates how this money will make its way down to local projects. In preparation for the probable passage, and at the direction of the Legislative Issues Steering Committee, ACPA staff will execute on a plan that focuses on partnering with our state chapters and engaging key stakeholders at the federal level in an effort to further educate about the benefits of concrete paving.

ACPA Legislative Issues Steering Committee Chairman Dan Rozycki led an effort to outline ACPA’s government affairs activities for the rest of the year. The Chairman will also lead a session at ACPA’s Annual Meeting in Huntington Beach, CA, that will set the aggressive 2022 ACPA government affairs agenda. Registration for the Annual Meeting will open soon, but you can read a letter from the Chairman and view the new 2021 third quarter Government Affairs Update.
