Canadian Government Releases Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality
The Canadian Government, in collaboration with industry organizations and cement companies, released a roadmap for net-zero carbon concrete by the year 2050 with the goal of making Canada a global leader in technology relating to low-carbon concrete. The first stage of the roadmap is the program titled Action Plan 2030 which focuses on developing the Canadian market, advancing innovation and increases low-carbon products and technologies. Much like President Biden’s Buy Clean Initiative, Canada is increasing their investment in decarbonization and clean projects through the Canada Growth Fund, which aims to accelerate private capital in buy clean efforts, diversify the economy, help meet climate targets and strengthen economic resiliency.
Many ACPA members, including Ash Grove Cement, Lehigh Hanson and St Marys Cement, were involved in creating the roadmap with ACPA ally the Cement Association of Canada. An overview can be found here.
