The FAA announced Michael A. (Mike) Meyers has been appointed the new Manager of the Airport Engineering Division (AAS-100), in the Office of Airport Safety and Standards. The announcement came last week from John R. Dermody, P.E., Director, and Patricia Hiatt, Deputy Director, Office of Airport Safety and Standards for the FAA.

“Mike has served a number of years as the Deputy Manager of the Airport Engineering Division.  In the Spring of 2020, the Airport Engineering Division was split into two branches” says John Dermody. “Mike was selected as the manager for the “Airport Data and Airspace” Branch (AAS-120), which is one of the two new branches of specialized expertise within the Engineering Division. “

“Mike was selected from a national search of highly qualified candidates,” he adds.

Mike was born in St. Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mike graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He served several years as a consultant in the private sector and joined the FAA Office of Airports in 2009. “Mike has a big heart, an outgoing personality, and a great sense of humor,” Dermody says, adding, “He lives with his wife, son and daughter in Maryland.”
